Concetta Filippone

Concetta Filippone, age 95, entered eternal rest on September 6, 2024, at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was the loving wife of the late Domenico Filippone. Concetta was born in Collesano, Province of Palermo, Sicily, Italy on January 10, 1929, daughter of the late Pasquale and Antonina Filippone Borgesano.

As a young woman living in Italy, she and her mother helped provide for their family by making and selling bread. She immigrated to the United States in June of 1956, resided in Ansonia, and was employed at Uniroyal in Naugatuck. Concetta prided herself on keeping a meticulous home. She was a devout Christian, praying, reading the Bible daily, and worshiping at the Gateway Christian Fellowship Church in West Haven, where she was a member.

She enjoyed watching the Bachelor on TV with her grandson and she loved to sew.

Concetta leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Agostino Filippone (Aleida) of Ansonia, a daughter, Carmela DiGaudio of Ansonia, brother, Pasquale Borgesano of Calabria, Italy, grandchildren, Christine Marcucio (Richard) of Watertown, Domenico Filippone (Amber Ouellette) of Ansonia and Nina Filippone (Luke Melendez) of Ansonia, great-grandson, Jonathan Marcucio along with several caring nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers, Francesco, Domenico, Frank and Cruciano Borgesano and sisters, Rosa Mogavero and Providenza Alfonso. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at both Hartford Healthcare and Shady Knoll for their wonderful care and compassion for Concetta. They would also like to extend a special thank-you to Monique who provided home care to Concetta during her illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
