Forever Young
March 17, 1977 – May 16, 2024
Let’s dance in style, let’s dance for a while
Damon Alexander Perry died suddenly on May 16, 2024 while vacationing with his family in Jamaica. The son of Angela and Dean Ford, Damon was born in White Plains, New York on March 17, 1977. Though a devoted only child by biology, Damon was surrounded by older brothers and sisters in his first cousins. He loyally extended his family, committing a life of love through marriage to his beautiful wife Maritza on September 6, 2009.
A family man through and through, Damon loved nothing more than stepping out in some fashionable sneakers, fancy socks, and bright colors to attend gatherings of family and friends. Many counted on him for his sage advice which usually included a reminder of what really matters along with encouragement to simply do the right thing. When not out and about with family and friends or golfing, Woodstock (as he was called as a child) could be found with that everlasting babyface of smile and eyes aglow lounging in his man cave. There he’d enjoy cheering on his New York Giants, playing a video game or video chatting with family from afar.
A 1995 graduate of Ansonia High School in Ansonia, Connecticut, Damon worked many years for Curve Glass in Derby, Connecticut before serving his most recent post as an assistant manager at SCS Direct in Orange, Connecticut.
Although Damon is deeply missed by many, members of the family are soothed by the fact that Damon died doing what he loved most: spending time with his beautiful wife and cousin-brothers, laughing, dancing, walking and sharing words of wisdom.
Damon is survived by his wife Maritza, sons Dashaan Perry and Matthew Humphrey; daughter Destiny Wade; granddaughter Ariella Luna Wiley; parents Angela and Dean Ford; parents in-law Iris Centeno and Wilfredo Rivera; grandmother Florence Ford; granduncle Richard Austin; aunts Connie Pope, Sharon Clark, Deidre (Lenny) Pender, Melissa Ford, Ralphine Ford and Cheryl Savage; uncles Louis (Patricia) Savage, Richard (Susan) Savage and Ronald (Yvette) Savage; the Perry family Meghan Perry, Leroy (Mary) Perry, Brenda (John) Sinclair, Gary (Carleena) Perry and Pat Perry; and numerous devoted and beloved cousins.
He is preceded in death by: Grandparents Erma and Don Kerr and Harry Ford; aunt Carol Williams; uncles Frankie Savage, Daryl Ford, Alan Ford and Gordon Spencer Ford, Sr.; brother-in-law Luis Rodriguez; and Nate Perry.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia, Connecticut. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. followed immediately by the service at 10:30 a.m.
