Daniel Sorcinelli, 90, of Seymour, formerly of Derby, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Bedini Sorcinelli for 70 years. Dan was born on May 1, 1924 in Derby, son of the late Alessandro and Augusta Casini Sorcinelli.
Dan was a devoted family man. He was happiest at holidays and functions where all of his family gathered together. He was a member of the AM Club where he was a Bocci League Champion. He loved to play golf and was proud of his hole-in-one achievement. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Casino. Dan was always willing to lend a helping hand. Just ask and he was there for you.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After retiring from Avco Lycoming (Textron) in 1984, Dan enjoyed his 31 years of retirement to the fullest going on vacations with his wife and family members.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Moyher, who he lovingly called Boop and his son-in-law, Andrew, his granddaughter, Andrea Voccola and her husband Martin, and two great-grandchildren, Talia and Aiden, who knew him as Poppy. He also leaves three godsons, Louis Bedini (Denise) of Seymour, Anthony Pedevillano (Christine) of Guilford, and Al Marrone (Karen) of Bethany, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his son, Daniel, sisters Irene Marrone and Marie Raccio, and brothers Albert, Anthony, and Gino Sorcinelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in Derby at Noon. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
