Darlene Ann Matejek, age 76, entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2020, at Regency House in Wallingford.
Darlene was born in Derby on June 25, 1944, daughter of the late John Garofolo and Christine Liberti Garofolo. Darlene resided in Ansonia for most of her life where she enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to host holidays, family gatherings and special events. Cooking and baking for her family and friends were some of her favorite hobbies. Darlene had a strong Catholic faith and when she became unable to attend weekly masses, she watched them on television. Although Darlene has not lived in Ansonia the last couple of years, her heart was always here with her hometown.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving son, Kenneth John Matejek (Rebecca) of Plymouth MA, a loving daughter, Kimberly Manginelli (Loren) of Wallingford, sister-in-law, Patricia Garofolo of Ansonia and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald J. Garofolo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at 10:00am (please meet directly) at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a mass of Christian Burial. Due to the health concerns regarding the pandemic, the family has opted for no public calling hours. Interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. The family will announce a memorial to honor Darlene at a later date when it is safe for everyone to gather.
