David Barboza II, age 74, formerly of Derby, entered into rest on Monday, May 15th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. David is the beloved husband of 54 years to Frances (Tontini) Barboza. He was born on March 27th, 1949 in Fall River, MA, the son of the late David and Ilda (Pereira) Barboza.
David received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Bridgeport. He was a Tech in Thermoregulation at Pierce Foundation from 1974 until 1987. He then became a Housing Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Hamden until his retirement. He was an avid fan of model railroading and was a member of the Valley N‑Trak Club and the CT G Scalers. David was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and was a dedicated volunteer for the Cub Scouts for 30 years.
David was the cherished father of Davida Kosa (Jarrad), Maria VanRyn (John), and David Barboza, III (Molly) and the beloved brother-in-law of Joseph Tontini (Beverly) and Stephen Tontini (Ana). He was the grandfather of Nathaniel Kosa, Daniel and Benjamin VanRyn, and Zsa Zsa and William Barboza.
Friends may greet David’s family on Friday from 9am to 10:15am at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral procession will leave the parlor at 10:15 am for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut, 200 Executive Blvd. S. #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
