David Robert Lauretti, age 61, of Shelton passed away at his home in Milford on March 10, 2014.
Born in Derby, on April 26, 1952, he graduated from Shelton High School in 1970 and Clemson University with a degree in History in 1977.
He was the son of the late John Francis Lauretti Sr. and Margaret Josephine Savignano Lauretti.
He is survived by his two children, David Bradley Lauretti and Jessica Margaret Lauretti, his siblings, John Francis Lauretti Jr. (Marion), Mark Anthony Lauretti (Anndee), Allegra Fitzgerald (Paul), and Luke Matthew Lauretti, and several nieces and nephews.
David played football at Shelton High School and Rugby at Clemson University. While in college, David and his cousin Rocco DiSanto started a company offering hot air balloon rides in North Carolina. After college he married Sharon Byrd of Society Hill, SC and moved back to CT.
He worked in the textile industry at the former Hull Dye & Finishing in Derby with his father John, Riverpoint Lace Works in Warwick, Rhode Island, and became the Head Dyer at Atlantic Dye in Norwalk. He later went on to open Lauretti’s Restaurant with his brother Mark.
He will be remembered for his love of Sunday family dinners, vacations in Myrtle Beach with his children and his passion for the music of Frank Sinatra. He also loved playing golf, and talking about politics, literature, philosophy and history with his friends and family.
His memorial services will be private. Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton are entrusted with the arrangements.
