David T. Ahearn, a 78-year-old Derby resident and husband of the late Carol Ahearn, entered into eternal rest at home surrounded by his family on Jan. 26.
He was born Dec. 17, 1935 in Derby, son of the late David & Matilda Baldwicz Ahearn.
A veteran of The Korean War, serving in 102nd Infantry Division, he worked as an installer & repairman for S.N.E.T. David was a parishioner of St. Jude’s Church in Derby and was a member of the Storm Engine Co. in Derby & Ansonia Rod & Gun Club.
He was a former Derby Police Commissioner and member of Derby’s Greenway Commission, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Valley Transit District, a member of the Housatonic Lake Authority and served as an arbitrator on CT Consumer Protection Bureau.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son David W. Ahearn of Seymour, his daughter Ellen O’Brien of Old Saybrook, CT his brother Robert Ahearn of Cheshire and seven grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, (DIRECTLY) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude’s Church in Derby. Burial with military honors rendered will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
