Deirdre Ann Loftus, 40, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon November 5, 2015, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family and friends by her side, following a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Dee was born in Derby on January 11, 1975, beloved daughter of Mary E. Loftus of Seymour and the late Andrew Robinson. She graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and most recently was employed as a job coach at Easter Seals in Denver, CO. Dee was a free-spirit and always lived life to its fullest. She strived to make this world a better place to live. She loved to travel and while she was in college spent time studying in Uganda. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends and being in the mountains of Colorado. She was brutally honest and enjoyed getting into discussions about life, social justice and anything one would like to talk about, especially with her brother in law, Donnell.
In addition to her mother Mary, she is survived by a sister, Yvette Thigpen and her husband Donnell of Meriden, brothers, Carl Cheeseboro and Robert Robinson of Ansonia, eight aunts, especially Kathleen Emmerson (Robert) of Seymour and Willie Lee of New Haven, an uncle, seven nieces and many cousins and friends, especially Tamara Goff of Golden, CO, Cristina Dos Santos of Summerfield, NC and Lauren Marcous of East Hampton, MA. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Edward and Mabel Loftus and paternal grandparents, William and Leila Lee.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of Dee’s life on Sunday November 8, 2015, from 3 to 5:30 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 5:30 pm, a funeral service will take place. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
