Della Mary Degnan Goetz, of Huntington Beach, CA, and formerly residing for many years in Derby CT, and later in Vero Beach, FL and Sun City West, AZ, died peacefully after a bout with pneumonia in Hospice at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Huntington Beach on April 3, 2022, with several of her children by her side. She was predeceased by her late husbands, Franklin Degnan of Derby, and Walter Goetz.
Della was born in Springfield, MA on May 30, 1927, to the late Della and Timothy Shay. Della liked to visit friends and family, have an occasional See’s candy, and spend time with her numerous children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Della was the loving mother of seven children, Bill Degnan (Arlene) of Sun City, AZ, Shawn Kowko (Pat) of Roanoke, VA, Thom Degnan (Diane) of Walnut Creek, CA, John Degnan (Noren) of Naples, FL, Susan Hall (Jay) of Charlotte, NC, Della Degnan of Southbury, CT, and Marion Miele (Bob) of Huntington Beach, CA. She adored her thirteen grandchildren, Ken and Marc Degnan; Tim and Erin Kowtko; Todd and Jamie Degnan; Jack and Krislyn Degnan; James, Dana and Hayden Gramolini; and Rob and Joe Miele; and her nine great-grandchildren, Alec and Naya Degnan, Vivien and Jonathan Kowtko, Isaac, Simon, and Jonah Degnan, River Degnan, and Savannah Degnan. Della had a positive impact on people around her with her sense of humor and her willingness to help whenever she could.
Della’s family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who contacted them with condolences on her passing. The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Della in the Spring of 2023.
