Denis James Sheehy

Denis James Sheehy died on April 14, 2024, at Hartford Hospital two weeks shy of his 79th birthday following a sudden illness. The Cheshire, Connecticut resident and Valley native spent his final days with his sister and children by his side.

Denis was born in New Haven, Connecticut on April 26, 1945 to James and Jeane Feury Sheehy. He attended Assumption School before moving on to Ansonia High School, graduating in 1963. His professional career culminated with the founding of Arion Technologies in Danbury, Connecticut which designed and supplied financial trading components to several high profile Wall Street firms. Prior to Arion Technologies, Denis was Director of North American Operations at Micrognosis, Inc. which often took him to his favorite place in the world, Ireland where he managed a major supplier of theirs.

He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, and enjoyed researching his family roots, both from afar and during visits to the Emerald Isle. Denis was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and boating, and had a love of cars and motorsports. He was a loyal and passionate fan of the New York Yankees and UConn basketball, rarely missing a game during his retirement, most recently watching and celebrating the Huskies win their sixth national championship just days before he passed. He was an avid reader, who also enjoyed engaging in political and other discussions and keeping in touch with friends and family on social media.

Denis was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Jane Sheehy and daughter Kathleen Denise Sheehy. He is survived by his sister Marion Edith Sheehy of Cheshire; along with his sons Paul and his family, wife Sheila, children Jeremy and Sean (Littleton, Colorado); Michael and his children Ryan, Emily, Dylan and Kayla and grandson, Kilian (East Haven, Connecticut); and Christopher and his family, wife Cheryl, children Samantha and Zachary (Rumford, Rhode Island); and many cousins and devoted friends.

On Wednesday May 29, 2024, family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial in the Church of the Assumption, 23 N.
