Diane M. Candella

Diane M. Candella, age 60, entered eternal rest on September 2, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the loving wife of John F. Mongillo III

Diane was born in Derby, on August 4, 1964, beloved daughter of Richard R. Candella Sr. and Mary DeCarli Candella of Derby. She resided in Derby for most of her life and graduated from Derby High School in 1982. Diane was employed as an electrician in the UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter Program at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for fifteen years until her retirement. Diane was also a licensed Beautician in CT and previously worked as a receptionist for the former orthopedic office of the late Peter Naiman in Milford. 

She was a music lover and enjoyed following local area bands and attending concerts, especially Neil Diamond and Stevie Nicks. Diane was very artistic. Her most precious times were spent with family and friends. 

In addition to her husband John and parents, Richard and Mary, Diane leaves to cherish her memory, brothers, Richard R. Candella Jr. of Orange and John J. Candella of Derby, mother-in-law, Joan T. Mongillo of East Haven, sisters-in-law, Kathryn Izzo (Joseph) of New Haven, Christine Mongillo of North Branford, and Linda J. Monahan (Russell) of East Haven, aunt, Linda Candella of Coconut Creek, FL, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, John P. and Mary A. DeCarli, paternal grandparents, Joseph and Madeline Candella, aunt and uncle, Rosalie C. and Ronald T. Chirgwin, Godfather, Rory T. Riordan and his wife Kathleen Riordan and Godmother, Elizabeth Nelson Fitzpatrick. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:00 am by meeting directly at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia, for her Mass of Christian Burial. There will be no visitation. Inurnment in Mount Saint Peter Mausoleum in Derby will be private. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements.
