Dino Miani

Dino Miani, age 83, of Derby, entered into his eternal rest on Saturday September 21, 2013 in Gardner Heights Health Care Center.

He was the devoted husband of the late Madeline (D’Amico) Miani. He was, a loving father, brother, and uncle.

Dino was born in Derby on February 24, 1930, son of the late Giuseppe and Giovina (DiGiovanni) Miani, and was a lifelong Derby resident. 

Dino was a salesman at Hostess Cakes for 24 years and a Driver at CT. Limo for 25 years before his retirement. He was a founding member of St. Jude Church, where he was also an usher and lector. Dino was a 3rd Degree and 4th Degree Knight and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary – St. Jude Council. He was a member of the building and naming committee for Bradley School, a longtime member of the Derby Democratic Town Committee and a former member of the Derby Board of Education. An avid duck pin bowler, he like to solve puzzles and watch UCONN Lady Huskies Basketball. 

He was the beloved father of Robert Dean Miani and his wife Ann, Donna Marie Miani and Sharon Lee Miani and her partner Lance Lockwood, loving grandfather of Michael Miani and his wife Sheila, brother of Mario Miani and his wife Eleanor. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Miani, and a sister, Hilda Testone. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

His family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers at Gardner Heights.

Friends may greet his family on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Friday his funeral will leave the funeral home at 10:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 :00 AM in St. Jude’s Church Derby. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
