Dolores (Dolly) Pottern Collings, 69, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2018 with her husband by her side.
Dolly served many years as a volunteer firefighter in Shelton with Pine Rock Park Fire Company 4. As the Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention in Shelton she traveled to local schools teaching fire prevention and years later became a fire safety inspector for the town. Dolly also volunteered much of her time at the Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton assisting the “Friends of the Shelton Libraries” with book sales and other library fundraisers. During her 44 years living in Shelton she was an active member of many community organizations.
She leaves behind her loving husband David, her son Paul, son and daughter-in-law Peter and Michelle, son and daughter-in-law Craig and Claudia, as well as 7 grandchildren, Cameron, Madison, Auston, Julia, Micaela, Dana, and Sofia. Pre-deceased by her eldest sister, Barbara Jackson, she also leaves her three remaining siblings, Donald Pottern, Leslie Pottern, and Shirley Wilson as well as her nephew, and many nieces and their children.
Private services will be held for the family.
