Dolores Constantino

Dolores (Federico) Constantino, 74, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 17, 2016, at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. 

She was the beloved wife of 50 years to John A. Constantino.

Dolores was born in Derby on April 25, 1942, daughter of the late Charles and Ann Carotenuto Federico Sr. She was a resident of Derby until 1966, when she married John and moved to Ansonia. She was a hairdresser and manager at Milady’s Beauty Salon in Derby and a floral designer at the former Highway Gardens in Ansonia. Later she was the proprietor of Little Peoples Home Day Care in Ansonia and lastly an art teacher, helping to run the Little Saints after school program at St. Mary’s School in Derby. Dolores was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia but held a special place in her heart for St. Mary’s Church in Derby. She had a very creative mind and an eye for design. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, arts & crafts, loved children, and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Nicholas Constantino (Margarita) of Middletown, a daughter, Sheri Camputaro (Louis) of Wallingford, a brother, Charles Federico Jr., a sister, Ann Marie Checkley (John) all of Ansonia, cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Matthew and Sarah Camputaro of Wallingford and Katelyn Constantino of Middletown, great-granddaughter, Lillee Kolb of Middletown, nephews, John Checkley Jr. (Paula) of Ansonia, Joshua Checkley (Jackie) of Derby, Brian Federico of NY and Jason Gardella (Michele) of Naugatuck along with several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a nephew, Charles Federico III.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday Nov. 21, 2016, at 11:00 am, at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Private burial will take place at a later date in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Calling hours will be held on MONDAY MORNING from 9:00 am until the procession leaves for church in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver St. in Ansonia. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary/St. Michael School, 14 Seymour Avenue or through the funeral home.
