Don F. Amato

Don F. Amato, age 71, of Oxford entered into rest on Thursday June 1, 2017 at Griffin Hospital. 

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Eleanor (Nowicki) Amato. 

He was born in New Haven on April 17, 1946 the son of the late Dominick and Rita (Bolduc) Amato. 

He is survived by his son Don F. Amato Jr. and his wife Regina, his son David Amato and his wife Lynn, his daughter Danielle Amato, his grandchildren Kayla, Erin, Amy, Jason, Alyssa, and Kaitlin Amato. Don is also survived by his brothers Alan, John, and Keith Amato as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Don was deployed to serve our country in during the Vietnam War as a part of the US Navy Seabees. He was stationed in Chu Lai and Da Nang. Upon his return home, he married the love of his life and was blessed with three children and six grandchildren. Don worked as a mechanic for 35 years at the former Northeast Utilities until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. He also loved to watch NASCAR races. 

Friends are invited to go directly to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, at 11 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Oxford.
