Donald A Kershaw, age 92, of Waterbury entered into rest on Thursday June 5, 2024 in his home with his loving family by his side. He is the devoted husband of 53 years to Sheila Cota Kershaw. He was born in Derby on Dec. 23, 1931 son of the late Fred and Freda (Delvecchio) Kershaw and was a resident of Derby for most of his life before moving to Naugatuck 20 years ago, and four years ago to Waterbury.
Donald was a veteran of the US Army and was an assembler at Sikorsky Aircraft for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of Fountain Hose Hook and Ladder and liked to go hiking, fishing, and kayaking, and especially loved going to the beach.
He is also survived by five loving children, John Mahan and his wife Denise, Janine Gardenhour and her husband Dave, Matt Kershaw and his wife Kristina, Theresa Bobb Kershaw, and Christopher Kershaw, fourteen loving grandchildren, John Mahan, David Gardenhour, Sarah Gardenhour, Jacob Gardenhour, Matthew Kershaw, Andrew James Kershaw, Peter Kershaw, Patricia Kershaw, Andrew Kershaw, Alisha Mayes, Noah Mayes, Valentine Alexus Philoche, Joseph Moore, and three great grandchildren, Chloe Ramsubhag, Jeremiah Mayes, and Amani Brisbon. He was predeceased by two brothers, Freddie Kershaw and Eddie Kershaw, two sisters, Phyllis Poupalo and Betty Hubak, and one grandson, Thomas Kershaw.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday at 10 am at Living Springs Christian Fellowship, 141 Great Hill Rd. Seymour. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 to 10 am at the Church.
The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby, has been entrusted with the cremation.
