Donald C. Noto, age 77, of Derby entered into rest on Saturday December 15, 2012 in his home with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Grace (Passerini) Noto.
He was born in New Haven on May 20, 1935 and raised in Hamden by the late Joseph and Josephine (Monteroso) Noto.
Don was a longtime employee of Tilcon NY Inc. becoming the plant manager of Poughkeepsie Asphalt for 10 years before his retirement.
He was very active in the community, he was a former member and Past Chairman of Shelton Recreation Committee, Past President of Board of Aldermen, former member of the Derby Board of Alderman, Past Chairman of the Derby Democratic Town Committee, former member of 25 years with the Lower Naugatuck Western Football Officials Association, former member of 10 years with the Eastern Collegiate Baseball Association.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #28 Paugausett, Derby where he was a Grand Knight for 4 years, a District Deputy, a Member of the 4th Degree Bishop Nilan Color Guard and served as faithful navigator for the 4th degree assembly Honorable W. Patrick Donlin # 2459, a Delegate to the National Convention, State Membership Director and Connecticut State Council Officer. Don was a communicant of St. Jude Church where he was Chairman of Stewardship Committee and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boy’s and Girls Club.
He was the beloved father of Donald Noto, Jr. and his wife Laurie and Stephen Noto and his wife Kim, loving grandfather of Marissa, Rachel, Jillian and Brittany Noto. He is also survived by three brothers Anthony, Joseph and Edward Noto, and two sisters Olga Parks and Laurie Sheppard, he also leaves his brother-in-law Nick Passerini, and his step mother Josephine as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters Florence Curtis and Norma Gilmore.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton.
His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:15 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Jude Church, Derby.
