Donald J. Cornell, Sr., age 72, of Swanzey, New Hampshire entered into rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Dvorsky) Cornell.
Donald was born in Derby, on March 29, 1942, son of the late Benjamin and Marie Cornell and was a Shelton resident for most of his life until moving to Swanzey 10 years ago. He was the head custodian at John Read Middle School in Redding for many years until his retirement. Donald enjoyed woodworking, boating, water skiing, traveling across the country with his wife and was an avid motorcyclist.
He is the father of Donald, Jr. and Benjamin Cornell, step-father of Victoria Nolan, Frank and Pamela Welch and the late Roy Welch and the late Cindy Blankshain. Donald is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and his cat Fluffy.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Tuesday, friends are invited to his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. His burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford.
