Doris K. Carle, age 91, wife of the late George E. Carle and resident of Derby, Ct. & Cape Cod Massachusetts entered into eternal rest on Nov. 9, 2010.
She was born Nov. 16, 1918 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Condon Smith.
She graduated from Ansonia High School class of 1936 and Albertus Magnus College class of 1940. She worked as a teacher for St. Mary’s School in Derby and was a parishioner of Holy Infant Church in Orange.
Doris was an avid bridge player and especially enjoyed the summers in Cape Cod with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son Richard Carle (Pam) of Bedford, Mass., three daughters, Maureen Healey (Mike) of Milford, Regina Fischer (Arthur) of Orange & Patricia Grele of Milford, seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy & Richard Carle, Maura & Justin Fischer, Casey Quake & Sean Ricci.
She is also survived by her brother Donald Smith of Wallingford and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Norman Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Infant Church in Orange. Friends may call on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, until the funeral leaves for church. Burial will be in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Griffin Hospital Development Fund, 130 Division St. Derby, Ct. 06401.
