Dr. John Joseph Narowski

Dr. John Joseph Narowski, 94, entered into eternal rest on Sunday,Oct. 9, at his home in Derby. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Jeanette Anna (Kapuscinski) Narowski.

Dr. Narowski was born in Derby on June 17, 1917, son of the late Andrew and Anna (Ozimek) Narowski and was a proud, lifelong Derby resident.

He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Tufts University Medical School and was a general practice physician in the Valley for 50 years, serving as the medical director to many area convalescent homes until his retirement in 1998. Dr. Narowski had the distinction of serving his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, during at which time he was stationed in England, Germany and Austria as chief of anesthesia.

He was a member of the Connecticut State Medical Society, New Haven County Medical Society, American Medical Association, fellow member of Anesthesiology, fellow member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, St. Michael’s Catholic War Veterans Post 1562 and the St. Joseph’s Society. He also served as Emmett O’Brien Technical High School’s medical advisor.

Dr. Narowski is the loving father of Valerie Lucarelli and her husband, Al, John Narowski and his wife, Hannah, and Mark John Narowski and his wife, Linda. He also leaves six grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Leah, Laura, Amanda, Elissa, Rachel and Meredith, and one great-grandchild, Charles Charlie” Domenic. He also leaves a sister, Genevieve Jean” Adamczyk and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Edmund and Roman Ray” Narowski and two sisters, Dr. Cecelia Narowski and Mary Grabarz, RN.

Friends and family may call on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Thursday
his funeral will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church at 11 am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
