Edith A. Donegan, age 97, of Shelton, entered into rest on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel P. Donegan.
Edith was born in Southport on July 26, 1917, daughter of the late William D. and Ina (Hemson) Sherwood, and lived in Southport and then Bridgeport before coming to Shelton ten years ago.
She was a retired clerk at the Fairfield Municipal Federal Credit Union. Edith enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and most loved spending time with her family and her grand and great grandchildren.
She is the beloved mother of Kathleen Nielsen and Nancy Matthews and her husband Al. She also leaves four cherished grandchildren, Donald and Jeffrey Nielsen, Joseph Bubenicek, and Barbara Sinko, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, George, Fred and William Sherwood, and three sisters, Marion Adams, Dorothy Baronowski, and Eleanor Beitner.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Cemetery 2205 Stratford Ave. Stratford, CT with the Rev. Lucille Fritz of the Huntington Congregational Church officiating.
