Edith Anne DelVecchio

Edith Anne (Kern) DelVecchio, age 76, of Shelton entered into rest on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Edith was born in Bridgeport, on March 8, 1948, daughter of the late Clayton James and Dorothy Anne (Kish) Kern and was a Bridgeport resident for most of her life. She was the beloved mother of Lynne Marie Santos and April DelVecchio Gale and her husband John and loving grandmother of Alyssa Marie Santos, Jenna Anne Santos and Julianna Dorothy Gale and fur grandbabies Finley and Luna. Edith was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Clayton James Kern, Jr.

Edith was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Class of 1966. She worked as a data processor at CT National/Fleet Bank for many years until her retirement. A member of Harris Rogers V.F.W. Post 145 Ladies Auxiliary, she loved going to the casino, playing bingo, she had a green thumb” and loved growing different plants. She had a sweet tooth” and was always willing to be the taste tester, encouraging her grandchildren to bake her sweet treats. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved her summers in York Beach Maine. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was simply found in the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. Alyssa, Jenna, and Julianna were everything to her as she was to them. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend of many both near and far.

Edith was hit with many setbacks with her health at a young age but where others would have given up, she was strong and resilient in her rehabilitation. She never gave up and took everything in stride with a positive attitude. Her kind smile and loving heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. She loved deeply, and she was deeply loved in return. She valued family above all else, and treated every person she met with kindness and respect and will be remembered as a woman who loved and gave with all her heart. Her girls will continue to honor her legacy with meaningful acts and by living their lives to the fullest carrying forward her spirit, strength, love and belief in the power of kindness and perseverance.
