Edmund A. Jacek Sr.

Edmund A. Jacek Sr., 86, of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Irene R. Culmo Jacek, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning February 3, 2010 at the West Haven V.A. Medical Center following a long illness.

Mr. Jacek was born in Derby on May 7, 1923, son of the late Anthony and Victoria Lizon Jacek. A resident of Derby and Ansonia his entire life, he was employed as a maintenance mechanic master welder at the B.F. Goodrich in Shelton and later at the American Brass in Ansonia until his retirement. 

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he honorably served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. An avid boater, he was a volunteer member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla in Milford. Ed was also known as the master of all trades”, enjoyed gardening, and was a life member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1562 in Derby.

He is survived by a son Edmund A. Jacek Jr. of Ansonia, a brother Edwin Jacek and his companion Helen of Seymour, a sister Wanda Kochiss and her husband Marshall of Milford, a grandson Edmund A. Jacek III of N.C., in laws, Attorino & Carmela Barone and Carl & Jackie Ajello all of Ansonia, several nieces and nephews, especially his loving and devoted caregiver, Renee A. Capece of Milford and many friends. 

He was predeceased by a son Jeffrey M. Jacek and a brother Henry Jacek.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday February 6, 2010 at 8:45am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. 

Burial with U.S. Navy honors will follow in the family plot in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 5, 2010 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FH. To send an online condolence, please visit www.spinellifuneralhome.com.
