Mr. Edmund A. Mis, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
He was the husband of Ann (Walsh) Mis.
Mr. Mis was born in Beacon Falls on Oct. 2, 1923, a son of the late John and Anna (Niemczyk) Mis.
He was a lifelong Beacon Falls resident and earned his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport.
He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II, and a member of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Michael’s Post 1562 in Derby, as well as the American Legion.
He retired from the State of Connecticut as business manager at E.C. Goodwin Technical School.
Besides his wife of 59 years, he leaves his son, James Mis and his wife, Mary, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his daughter, Carolyn Duhaime and her husband, Peter, of Derby; a brother, Frank Mis of Beacon Falls; two grandsons, John and Daniel Mis; a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Mis; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Thaddeus Mis.
His funeral was held Saturday, March 23. A procession met at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home in Naugatuck and proceeded to St. Michael Church in Beacon Falls for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial with military honors followed at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
