Edward J. Evenski, age 97, of Mystic entered into rest on Monday March 17, 2014 in his home in the Academy Point Senior Living Community. He was the devoted husband of the late Jean Kozlowski Evenski.
Mr. Evenski was born in Waterbury on Feb. 8, 1917, son of the late Chester and Bertha Ciesinski Evenski, was raised and educated in Seymour and was a Shelton resident for over 62 years, until moving to Groton, and Mystic.
He graduated Syracuse University Class of 1941, was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army/Air Corp reaching the rank of Tech. Sargent. Mr. Evenski went on to long career as a system analyst, for Uniroyal, and Raybestos Manhattan, and several other companies. He was a former member of the St. Michael’s Catholic War Vets in Derby, the American Legion Sutter- Terlizzi Post # 16, in Shelton, the Knights of Columbus, was a former usher at the 10:30 AM Mass at St.Lawrence Church, in Shelton, and was a former communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Derby.
Mr. Evenski is the beloved father of Robert Evenski and his wife Jill, William Evenski, and his wife Laury McGee, and Joan Jach. He is the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Evenski, Andrea Evenski, and her husband Sean Cox, Jessica Sarandrea, and her husband Richard, Adam Evenski, and his wife Rachel, Aidan Evenski, Sara Hess, and her husband Kyle, and David Jach, and his wife Kate. He is the adoring great grandfather of Kaelyn, Brennan, Isabelle, Haley, Logan, Lana, Carter, and Anderson. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Linda Kiraly, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son-in-law John Jach, a grandson Michael Jach,a brother Zigmont Evenski, and a sister Jeanette Hoffart.

Friends may greet his family on Thursday from 4 to 6 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth Street Derby. On Friday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
