Edward J. Stevenson Jr.

Edward J. Stevenson Jr., 78, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Seymour and Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth M. Valinoti Stevenson.

Mr. Stevenson was born in Ansonia on June 30, 1933, son of the late Edward J. and Elizabeth Newhouse Stevenson. He was a resident of Ansonia and Seymour for most of his life before retiring to Florida 18 years ago. He proudly and honorably served in the US Army with the rank of Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. A chef, Edward was the owner and operator of the former Tracy’s Luncheonette of East Main St. in Ansonia for 28 years, operated the former Ma’s Place in Oxford for several years, and retired from Southbury Training School. In addition to cooking, he was an avid wood carver.

Besides his wife Elizabeth, he is survived by four daughters, Tracy Morrison (Douglas) of Seymour, Keli Plourde of FL, Kym Papsin of Seymour, and Tara Stevenson (James Jones) of Waterbury, a brother, Robert Stevenson (Patricia) of FL, 4 grandsons, Devin and Tyler Morrison, Chad Jones, and Conner Papsin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son in law, Craig Papsin and a sister, Elizabeth Tingley.
