Edward V. Obidinski, age 87, entered into eternal rest on April, 18, 2021 at his home in Prospect. He was the loving and devoted husband of sixty-one years to Margaret (Peggy O.) Hession Obidinski. Edward was born in Shelton on January 6, 1934, son of the late James and Mary Stellic Obidinski.
He was a resident of Orange and Woodbridge for fifty-seven years and settled in Prospect for the last four years.
Ed was employed as an Educator with the Ansonia Board of Education from 1961 until his retirement in 1999. During his time at AHS, Ed served as Chairman of the Business and Vocational Education Departments. Being an avid tennis player and fan himself, Ed was the AHS girl’s tennis coach for seventeen years.
He was a graduate of Quinnipiac University and received his Master’s and Sixth Year Certificate from the University of Bridgeport.
Ed loved to entertain and he was especially known for his poolside parties at “Club Ed” where he was master of the grill. He enjoyed attending Army football games annually at West Point and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
In addition to his wife Margaret, Ed leaves to cherish his memory, a son, James E. Brooks (Jacqueline) of Wellesley, MA, a daughter, Anne O. Holley (Jeffrey) of Cheshire, grandchildren, J. Brendan Brooks of Boston, MA, Madeline C. Brooks, of Wellesley, MA, Thomas J. Holley of Cheshire and Sarah C. Holley of Cheshire. He was predeceased by a brother Eugene Obidinski.
A walk-through visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as the walk through and exit without lingering to ensure all guests get a chance to pass through.
On Friday, all are welcome to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 (meeting directly) at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road in Orange. Attendees of the Mass are asked to park in the rear lot and enter through the portico door for screening before entering the Church. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Saint Peter’s Cemetery, 219 New Haven Avenue in Derby. Contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
