Edwin C. “Smitty” Smith, age 82, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Ansonia, CT, entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2017, in Florida.
Mr. Smith was born in Randolph, Maine on December 22, 1934, son of the late Charles and Sylvia Smith. He was the owner and operator of Milford Post Motors in Milford for many years and also other used car dealerships throughout the area, until his retirement. He was an excellent automobile mechanic, loved to remodel homes and enjoyed camping. Ed was a member of the Derby Elks Club and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodges.
He is survived by sons, Clayton Smith and Kevin Smith of Venice, FL and Bruce C. Smith of Ansonia, daughters, Cynthia Robertstad of Ansonia and Nancy Hyatt (James) of Shelton, brother in law and lifelong friend, Harold “Bud” Fogg (Jean) of Ansonia, sister in law, Sandra Smith of South Gardiner, Maine, former wife, Nancy Fogg Smith of Ansonia, step-daughter, Jolene Landino (Joseph) of North Haven, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Benjamin and Leroy Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering and celebration of Ed’s life on Tuesday June 6, 2017, from 5 – 7 PM in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. He will be privately buried in the family plot in Maine at the convenience of the family.
