Eileen Mary Garofalo, age 71, of Derby CT, mother, friend, baker, bartender and self-proclaimed fashionista entered into eternal rest on Thursday June 22, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Born on September 28, 1945, in Derby, she was a lifelong resident of Derby and the daughter of the late Peter and Ethel (McLaughlin) Karpovich.
You may remember her as your local Klaridees and Shop-Rite baker or the Catholic War Veteran’s bartender. She was also a social member and was part of the Women’s Auxillary, who told it like it was with no apologies. Her sense of humor was uncanny and she always had a funny story decorated with colorful words that made you laugh out loud and shake your head. Eileen was not a woman who focused on worldly travels or advanced degrees. She enjoyed shopping and dining with family and friends. She made every holiday memorable with her artistic decorating in a beautiful home she remodeled entirely herself. She enjoyed fashion and was always dressed to the nines. A woman who was beautiful inside and out. Her love for animals was always evident as was her kindness with helping all who crossed her path, but most of all she loved her children and went above and beyond for them even when it meant that she went without.
She is survived by her children Holly Fontaine and her husband Allen Fontaine, Jody Belade, Stacy Garofalo, Dean Garofalo, Marcy Garofalo, her grandchildren Jessica Joseff and her husband Matthew Joseff, James Wheeler Jr, Victoria Wheeler, Alexa Doyle, Michael Garofalo, Emily Garofalo, Charlotte Garguilo, Chloe Garguilo and her Great Grandson Elliott Joseff and Great Granddaughter, her brother Peter Karpovich, her niece Christine Graves, and her nephew Peter Karpovich, Jr. She was predeceased by her son Anthony James Garofalo.
On Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 4 – 7 PM friends are invited to the Edward F. Adzima Funeral home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby CT. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Garden Mausoleum.
