Elaine Ann (Yanzo) Dwyer, age 88, of Shelton, died peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025 with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on January 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonina “Anita” Dymek Yanzo.
Elaine had a big heart. She had a kindness and compassion for those in need which led her to work with those with special needs for the former VARCA Agency of Derby until her retirement. She volunteered for the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many years. In her younger years, she enjoyed tag sales and flea markets on the weekends.
She had a genuine love for all animals and was happiest when she had a cat curled up in her lap. But most of all, she loved the countless family get togethers over the years. It gave her great joy to watch the interactions between all of the family and the good natured teasing that went on with all.
She is survived by her loving children, Michelle Spadaccino of Shelton, Edwin Dwyer of Shelton and Donna Achille of Oxford; her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Spadaccino of New Haven, Michael Spadaccino and his wife, Brooke of Shelton, Salvatore P. Spadaccino of Shelton and Roman Achille of Shelton; great grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Salvatore K., Gianna and Benedek Spadaccino, all of Shelton; as well as her niece, Christine Bojarczyk and her husband Rick and nephews, Neal Frasier and Joseph Yanzo. Elaine was predeceased by her infant son, Donald Dwyer; her sister, Joan Boboc; her brother, Joseph Yanzo, Jr.; and sons-in-law, Salvatore F. Spadaccino and Bob Achille.
