Miss Elaine Audrey Grele, age 86, lifelong resident of Seymour, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Hewitt Health & Rehabilitation Center in Shelton.
She was born on October 18, 1923 in Waterbury to the late Philip and Matilda Grele.
She was a clerical worker for Kerite Co. in Seymour for 37 years before her retirement in 1978.
She was a lifelong parishioner of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, held the position of church historian, and served on numerous committees.
Elaine enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, oil painting, playing Scrabble, and was an avid UConn Huskies Girls Basketball fan.
Elaine is survived by her sister-in-law, Amelia Grele of Seymour, and nieces and nephews: Lynn Neagle and her husband Robert of Manchester, H. Reed Grele, Jr. of Beacon Falls, Christian P. Grele of Waterbury, and Gretchen R. Grele and her husband Gerald K. Cassin, Jr. of Oxford, several grand nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey R. Grele, Sr. and Russell H. Grele, and her nephew, Russell T. Grele.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oxford. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Seymour.
