Eleanor Dubail Schwaller Browne, age 88, of Shelton, died peacefully with loved ones by her side on November 20,2012. Eleanor was born in Shelton, Connecticut on February 8,1924; she was the daughter of Carl and Alice (DuBail) Schwaller.
Eleanor graduated from Shelton High School class of 1941 and also a graduate of Stone Business College. She began a long career at Farrell Corporation that was interrupted by her enlistment into the US Navy during World War II.
On January 25, 1949, she married Jack Browne and began her family consisting of three children: John Browne, Jr. and his wife Jody, Pamela Landry and her husband Marc, and James Browne and his wife Carolyn. She was blessed with eight grandchildren (the grands): Jamie Browne and his wife Kristen, Jeffrey Browne and his wife Shauna, Erin Strunk and her husband Phil, Marc Landry and his wife Evy, Meghann Landry, Morgan Browne, Christopher Browne, and Sean Browne. She also has seven “greats”: Nathan, Ethan, Haley, Madelyn, Connor, Michael, and Dennis.
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her sister, Fern Phipps.
Eleanor was very active in the Shelton senior center where she maintained many valued friendships.
Friends may call on Friday November 23, from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am in the funeral home.
