Eleanor DeFilippo Kane Hoffman, of Woodbridge, CT (formerly of Seymour) passed away on March 7, 2025 peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Eleanor was born on July 10,1934 in New Haven, CT the daughter of the late Peter and Angelina (Savalli) DeFilippo. She grew up in the Allentown neighborhood of West Haven and was immensely proud of her Italian family and heritage. Ellie was very involved in her community serving as one of the founding members of the Seymour Pumpkin Festival, the president of the PTA, and an active member of both the Seymour and Oxford Senior Centers.
Eleanor is survived by her children John (Dolores) Kane, Cheryl (Ben) Kane, Kathleen (Raymond) Cook, Joseph (Kristine) Kane, her grandchildren Ryan (Jess) Kane, Megan (Tommy) Kane, Jack (Hanna) Kane, Paul Kane, Isaiah Kane, Jordan Kane, Sean (Ana) Kane, Riley (Jeremy) Kane, and her great-grandchildren Olivia and Lacey, her sister Jeannette Tartagni, and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
Eleanor is predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Kane, her brothers Nicholas and Salvatore.
Eleanor’s family is grateful for supportive friends especially her dear friend and neighbor Cathy Perssico.
A private family service will be held in the spring.
