Eleanor Pekera, age 90, of Derby, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Joseph Manor in Trumbull with her loving family by her side.
She was the devoted wife of the late John Pekera. Eleanor was born in Larksville, PA on March 22, 1925, daughter of the late Overk and Agnes (Sabolchik) Devonshuk, and was a lifelong resident of the Valley.
She loved her devoted customers at Shelton Pizza Palace of 30 plus years. She was previously co-owner of Esquire Cleaners of Shelton. Eleanor enjoyed bowling at Valley Bowl on Tuesday mornings, and she enjoyed volunteering at the Shelton Senior Center. She also loved bingo night at St. Margaret Mary’s Church.
She is the beloved mother of Debra Hayducky and her husband Rich and Ronnie Pekera. She also leaves two cherished granddaughters, Jennifer and Lori Hayducky, three sisters, Alice DeNigris, Irene Carey, and Tina Shuster, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Edward, and Larry Devonshuk, and two sisters, Agnes DellaRocco and Shirley Grim.
Her family would like to thank all of the nurse and staff at St. Joseph’s Manor, and Life Choice Hospice for all their care.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements. Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Church, 420 Coram Ave., Shelton, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10:30 AM.
