Elianna (“Ellie”) Grace Soucy, age 3, died in the early hours of Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, with her parents by her side. She passed from a respiratory infection after valiantly battling AML leukemia. Ellie’s courage and bravery throughout her illness was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Ellie was born on Sept. 10, 2014, and her infectious smile carried her through her short life. She delighted in her love of music, play and family. For a brief time, she was a preschool student at Chatfield LoPresti School in Seymour. A few months ago, a Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World fulfilled her dream of meeting her beloved Princess Elena in person and provided life-long special memories for her family.
Ellie is survived by her loving and dedicated parents, Cynthia and Jason Soucy and her devoted big sister, Charlotte, all of Seymour. She will be sadly missed by her grandparents, Yves and Lillian Allen of Seymour and Arthur and Rosemarie Soucy of Shelton. Also cherishing her memory are her aunts, Jeannie (Peter) Rubsam of Wilton, Vicki (James Marshall) Gyba of Oxford and Kristine (Thomas) Re of Shelton. Ellie had a profound love for her cousins, Alyssa, Emily, Matthew, Logan, Andrew and Jenna and they will miss her terribly. Last, but certainly not least, Ellie loved her cats Min-Min and Tiny.
The family wishes to thank all caregivers at Yale-New Haven Hospital, especially Dr. Stephanie Massaro, Dr. Niketa Shah and all of the nurses and therapists who took such wonderful care of her. Also thank you to Children’s Medical Associates and the hundreds of members of Elianna’s Warriors whose prayers and wishes for Ellie have carried us through our journey. An angel on earth has become our angel in heaven.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 2, 2018, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
