Elizabeth (Bette) Mae Rumage Luedecker

Elizabeth (Bette) Mae Rumage Luedecker, age, 97, of Bridgeport, passed away January 14, 2023. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Charles and Bernadine Rumage.

Bette grew up in Bridgeport, graduating from St. Charles School, class of 1939 and Central High School Class of 1943.

Mrs. Luedecker was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years Attorney Warren A. Luedecker, her son, Marc Charles Luedecker and by her brother Charles Rumage.

Bette had a passion for golf, belonging to Hillandale, Bronson and Tashua Country Clubs, playing till the end. She enjoyed exploring and road trips travelling to all 50 states and visiting Europe. Bette also had a very creative side. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch, and most recently making wedding samplers. She also enjoyed a good hunt and bargain for the weekend tag sales and estate sales. Playing a good game of mahjong, bridge, gin rummy or reading a good book rounded her days. At any time she was able to kick up her heels, as she loved to dance. Volunteering over the years to a variety of organizations, most recently My Sister’s Place. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies, Cathedral Parish Ladies Guild, Derby Garden Society and the Fairfield Senior Center.

She is survived by her devoted children: Karen (Andrew) Pawlowski, of Bridgeport, Warren A. Luedecker (Elaine Gubbins) of Stamford and Beth (Randall) Colette of Derby; her seven loving grandchildren, David Garafalo (Kelly), Andrea Luedecker (Jason), Warren (Kim) Pawlowski, Justin (Stephanie) Luedecker, Averell Luedecker (Rebecca), Rachael Colette, Brenner Colette; four cherished great grandchildren Matthew, Scarlett, Olivia and Sebastian, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the caregivers over the last few months who helped our mother through her journey.

Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 851 North Ave. Bridgeport, CT. Interment to follow in Lawn Cemetery, Lane St. Huntington, CT. Friends may call on Wed. from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the newly established Bette Mae’s Memorial Fund, which will benefit My Sister Place in Ansonia.
