Elizabeth C. Mais

Elizabeth C. Mais, age 50, entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2021, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

Liz was born in Derby on Christmas Day, December 25, 1970, beloved daughter of Carol Merenda Mais of Shelton and the late Charalabos Bobby” Mais. She graduated from Ansonia High School in 1988 and attended Post University where she attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minor in Criminal Justice and a certificate in Forensic Accounting. Liz was employed as a Senior Claims Analyst for Health Net of Arizona and previously for Health Net in Shelton. A resident of Prospect for many years, she served as a delegate for the Prospect Republican Town Committee and also as a N.R.A. instructor in Prospect. Liz also resided in Colorado and North Carolina. She loved the holidays and would always make them extra special with her festive decorations and specially prepared meals. Liz also enjoyed baking and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. 

In addition to her mother Carol, she leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Edward R. Latham of Derby, a sister, Katherine Kate” Mais of Ansonia, best friend and sister”, Christine Reynolds-Bostic of Ansonia, step-mother, Jacqueline Hackley of N. Branford, her son’s father, Edward Latham of Derby, nephews, Dylan Ruane and Christyan Mais, cousin, Joseph Leone and several aunts, uncles and friends. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Louis and Mary Ann Incandella Merenda and paternal grandparents, Theodoros and Aikaterini Parashoulaki Mais. 

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Monday September 20, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Face masks will be required inside the funeral home. On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, her funeral will take place at 10:30 am (please meet directly) at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby. Contributions in Liz’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at http://www.stjude.org.
