Elizabeth (Geoghan) Cascone, 95, of Shelton passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at Griffin Hospital in Derby after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Carlo.
Betty was born in Shelton on January 29, 1926, daughter of the late Charles and Rachel (Savarese) Geoghan.
Betty leaves four daughters, Karen Griffin of Oxford, Elizabeth Baird of Ansonia, Carol Berardi and her husband William, of Oxford, and Lisa Thompson and her husband Gary, of Shelton. She leaves sisters Rita Zavidniak, Marie Geoghan, and Jeanne Bunosso, and her brother Joseph Geoghan and sister-in-law Marlene Geoghan. Betty also leaves grandchildren Robert Baird, Nicole (Griffin) Mason, Joel Baird, Corey (Griffin) Evans, William Berardi, Jr., Rachel (Berardi) Cohen, Gary Thompson, Jr., Jason Thompson, and Christopher Thompson. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Betty was predeceased by a sister, Anne Geoghan, brothers Charles, Jr., Thomas, and Robert, a son Carl, a grandson William Griffin, Jr., and a son-in-law, Robert Baird.
Betty’s home was always full of loved ones and food. She prepared many a Sunday dinner for her family well into her late seventies. A lover of sweets, she also enjoyed reading and was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton.
Betty lived her later years in the loving home and care of her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Gary, where she was blessed to watch three of her grandsons grow up and enjoyed many family gatherings and celebrations.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 AM. Her procession will then depart for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
