Emanuel “Manny” DeMelis

Emanuel Manny” DeMelis, age 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday April 4, 2020, at St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford.

Manny was born at home in Ansonia on December 25, 1935, son of the late Guido and Mary Pergola DeMelis. He graduated from Ansonia High School/Pine High School and began his proud lifelong career as a butcher at Fulton Market in Ansonia, then Foodland in Seymour and retired as the meat manager from Klarides Supermarket in Derby. Manny was a member of the St. Sebastian Club and former St. Michael’s Men’s Society in Ansonia and an honorary member of the Catholic War Veteran’s in Derby. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching western movies.

He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Paul DeMelis of Ansonia and David Gallo of Seymour, daughters, Susan M. DeMelis-Turotsy (James) of Monroe, Cheryl A. DeMelis and Jessica M. DeMelis of Ansonia, brothers, Robert C. DeMelis (Jane) of Orange, Guido J. DeMelis (Nathalie) of W. Greenwich, RI and Anthony DeMelis (Margot) of Seymour, granddaughter, Juliana Marie Turotsy of Monroe, former wife, Georgianna DiGiorgi DeMelis of Ansonia and numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral service and burial will be private. At the family’s request please do not share obituary on social media. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Manny’s honor for a special needs family member.
