Emil Albert Faber, Jr., age 89, beloved husband of the late Nancy Faber, was taken home to the Lord surrounded by his loving family on May 10, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.
Emil was born on January 5, 1925 in Derby, Connecticut. Predeceased by his parents Emil and Anna Faber. Emil was a lifetime resident of Shelton and a member of the Huntington Congregational Church for over 50 years. He married his soulmate at Shelton Methodist Church June 7, 1952. They were married for 62 years and shared many beautiful memories together.
Emil was raised on Faber’s Dairy Farm in Shelton, Connecticut, where he harbored a love for the outdoors. His passion for planes and flying led to his employment at Sikorsky Aircraft, where he retired after many years of service. Prior to Sikorsky, Emil was a carpenter and even owned his own business.
A New England farm boy til the end, Emil knew how to fix almost anything and stayed independent. After retirement he took his wife all over the world and they enjoyed special trips together. Emil was a proud veteran fireman and last year he received his 50 year Masonic Pin, which was a great honor. In his spare time, Emil loved to build and fly model airplanes and build things.
He loved his family very much but most of all he loved his wife, Nancy, who he simply could not live without. He is very missed but his family knows he is now with his love in a better place. He is survived by his children William and Marilyn Faber of Shelton, Glenn and Judy Faber of Brookfield, The Reverend Kathy Faber,and The Reverend Wayne Strever of Somers,and his grandchildren Shawn, Michelle, Kellie, and Jeffrey Faber,and Nancy Stever.
Friends may greet his family on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. On Thursday friends are invited to a funeral service at The Huntington Congregational Church, 19 Church Street, Shelton at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Shelton.
