Enes D. Elia

Enes D. Elia, age 83, entered into peaceful rest on February 11, 2022, at The Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, following a long illness. 

Enes was born at home in Ansonia on May 23, 1938, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Manera Elia. She was a graduate of Ansonia High School where she was a cheerleader. She resided most of her life in Ansonia before moving to Shelton and then Southbury. Enes was employed as a software engineer for 3M in Wallingford for over thirty years, until her retirement in 2003. She loved traveling the world, especially to almost every National Park in the United States, an African safari, cruise to Alaska, the Australian Outback, Italy and Hawaii. She was an active member of the former First Baptist Church in Ansonia and current member of Grace Baptist Church in Milford. Enes volunteered and served as chairperson for Relay For Life of Shelton, contributed to many local charitable organizations and enjoyed bowling. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister. Sylvia Mackowski of Shelton, nieces and nephew, Laura Filo (James) of Seymour, Alene Simonetta (Paul) of Cheshire, Christa Ryan (Matthew) and Diane Mackowski of Woodbury, Cynthia McLaughlin of Seymour and Kenneth McLaughlin (Anna) of Ohio and nine great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Marilyn Blanchette and Veronica McLaughlin. 

Family and friends are invited to her funeral on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 1:00 pm meeting directly at the chapel in Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church Street in Ansonia, with Rev. James Midgely, officiating. Inurnment to follow in the family plot. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with her arrangements.
