Jerome Fitzpatrick

Jerome Grady Fitzpatrick, age 88, of Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Maureen Crowe Fitzpatrick, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born in Westbury, Long Island on September 29, 1928 the beloved son of the late Jerome Michael and Helen Grady Fitzpatrick. 

Jerome was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour. He was the Station Operator for Connecticut Light and Power at Stevenson’s Dam. Jerome was a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy of Westbury, Long Island, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. While at the Academy, he played basketball and football and in his senior year was awarded the Stedman Trophy for being the most outstanding senior athlete. Jerome played every minute of every game in his senior year of football. After graduation, he served in both the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Navy during the Korean War achieving the rank of Lieutenant ‑JG.

Jerome loved to garden, enjoyed golfing and was a Civil War buff. He loved all sports, especially the UCONN Women’s Basketball team. He will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. 

His loving family includes his two caring sons, Mark Fitzpatrick of Seymour and Daniel Fitzpatrick and his wife Sherrie of Thomaston, his loving daughter Katie Fitzpatrick of Seymour, his devoted brother James Fitzpatrick of South Burlington, VT, his dear sister Judy Morrissey of Skaneatles, NY, two cherished grandchildren Sean and Kathryn Fitzpatrick and several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved siblings Jean Fitzpatrick, Jane Ochs, Janet Fitzpatrick and John Fitzpatrick. 

A Funeral Service in Celebration of Jerome’s Life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 9:00 am in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour will follow. Friend and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice of Branford through the funeral home.
