Nona Gould

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Nona Gould of Ansonia, CT and Venice, FL. on April 29, 2020.

She was born on January 7, 1940 in Ansonia, CT. to the late Mary and Henry Castiello.

She was the loving wife of 59 years to Gary Gould, mother of Deborah(Robert) Keefe of Southbury, CT and Jeff(Michelle) Gould of Ansonia, CT. Grandmother to Brayleigh Keefe, Haley, Victoria and Jeffrey Gould. Special Aunt to Gregg Zoarski and his son Noah of Baltimore, MD. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Zoarski and her beloved granddaughter Samantha Keefe. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and numerous friends both in FL and CT.

Nona began her working career at the former Southern CT Telephone Co. in New Haven, CT and later worked as a bookkeeper for Charlie and Leon’s Restaurant in Ansonia, CT. She was actively involved in her children’s activities while they were growing up. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Assumption School PTO and Back Stage Mom for Lorraine Judd Dance Studio. She was the chauffeur for all their activities. Nona was an avid bowler.

She was the secretary of the Tuesday Morning Ladies League at the Valley Bowl in Derby, CT. where she bowled many 200 games. She would frequent the casinos both in CT. and FL. Nona was the queen of tag sales and she would hold at least 2 or 3 every year in CT and she was actively involved in Trash and Treasures in her Harbor Isle Community. Always looking for a bargain! She was also a member of the Bocce Club at Harbor Isle. Jigsaw puzzles were her passion. You could always find an ongoing puzzle on the Lanai table.

Nona was so very proud of her granddaughter Brayleigh and was always happy to hear where her adventures were taking her. Whether it was her ice skating adventures and travels or her college ambitions on becoming a forensic scientist/pathologist. Even though it was a long distance relationship they kept in close contact. She will be missed by many. T

hank you to all her Doctors and Tidewell Hospice for their kind and compassionate care and allowing her to complete her journey with dignity. Funeral and Burial arrangements will be private.
