Richard J. Pivirotto, Sr.

Richard J. Pivirotto, Sr., life-long resident of Derby, went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 13th with his daughters and son-in-law by his side.

He was born on April 6, 1936 to William and Margaret (Knebel) Pivirotto in Bridgeport. He married Eleanor (Bowser) Pivirotto, the love of his life, who predeceased him exactly 10 years earlier on March 13th, 2011.

Dick was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and will be missed very much by his 3 children, Cheryl Crevier (Harold), Richard Pivirotto (Robin), Elisa Keenan (Michael), 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, William and Thomas Pivirotto, and his grandson, Billy Stimple. After graduating high school, Dick served in the United States Army. He and Eleanor moved to Derby where he was very active in the community.

He served as Derby Police Commissioner, on the Derby Board of Education, Chairmen of the Republican Town Committee, Vice-Commander of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Michael’s Post 1562.

He was a member of the American Legion, John H. Collins Post 24, and the VFW in Stratford. After retiring from Corometrics Medical Systems, Inc. in Wallingford, he worked as a Judicial Marshall with the Superior Court at the Derby Courthouse. Dick had a great sense of humor and a beautiful, humble spirit.

He was always worried about everyone else — no matter how bad he was feeling. He put everyone else’s needs before his own. On behalf of our father, we would like to thank his caregivers, Setsuko and Terri, Dr. Gowda, his doctor who went out of his way to give him the best care possible and the kind and selfless nurses at Griffin Hospital.

Due to the current health pandemic there will be no calling hours. Please join us on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. directly at Mount St. Peter’s Cemetery at 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby. The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby is entrusted with the arrangements.
