Erika Churma, age 96, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Churma. Erika was born in Carlsbad, Czechoslovakia on April 29, 1928 daughter of the late Karl and Anna Lehecka and was a Shelton resident since 1956.
She was an avid reader and was very particular with maintaining her home. Erika was the beloved mother of Joseph Churma and Ilona Byra, loving grandmother of Nicholas Byra and Samantha Longval and her husband Ryan and sister of Walter Lehecka. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Erika was predeceased by her brother Fraz Lehecka and two sisters Emma Emerker and Erna Lehecka.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 am — 12:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the parlor. Her burial will be at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
