Ernst Lagoja, 82, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday February 4, 2013, in the comfort of his home.
He was the beloved and devoted husband of Rosalie Zdravic Lagoja.
Mr. Lagoja was born in Slovenia on January 11, 1931, son of the late Anton and Maria Regitnik Lagoja.
He was a resident of Derby for 27 years, prior having lived in Bridgeport.
Ernie was employed at Bassick Casters and Hubbell Wiring in Bridgeport until his retirement.
A proud veteran, he honorably served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army 1st Armored Division, 4th Battalion.
He was a member of St. Joseph Lodge 148 in Fairfield and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Rosalie, he is survived by a loving son, Ernest E. Lagoja of Derby, a loving daughter, Rosemary Walsh, and her husband, Patrick, of Stratford, a brother, William Lagoja, and his wife, Virginia, of Huntington; a sister, Margaret Pekar, of Shelton, four cherished grandchildren, Shawn and Lora Walsh and Marissa and Amber Lagoja and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2013, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Thursday, relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Derby.
