Eugene J. Dobek, 83, of Anderson, SC, formerly of Derby, entered into eternal rest on March 20, 2013 in SC. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Bia Dobek.
Mr. Dobek was born in Derby on Nov. 7, 1929, son of the late Frank and Julia Turaj Dobek. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Services in Derby for 32 years until his retirement.
A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Gene was a life member of St. Michael’s CWV Post 1562 in Derby, enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Diane M. Yuravich and her husband Kenneth of Ansonia and Elizabeth A. Steffero of Derby and her fiancé William Violano Jr., two brothers, Stanley Dobek of Woodbridge, NJ and Frank Dobek of Derby, three cherished grandchildren, Michelle Rivera, Joseph Boyko and Ryan DiCamillo, four loving great-grandchildren, Ashley Harriss, Alexis Jagodnik, Nicole Fortin, Connor Boyko and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph, John, Walter, and Raymond Dobek.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Monday April 1, 2013, at 11:00 am (DIRECTLY) at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue in Derby. U.S. Air Force military honors will be accorded after Mass.
