Evangelyn “Lyn” Tenney, 89 of Forest, VA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie D, Tenney Jr., and a son-in-law, Oral Mizelle. She is survived by a son, Leslie D. (‘Tyke”) lll and wife Cindy of Garner, NC, a son, Richard T. and wife Bobbie of Tallahassee, FL and a daughter, Laurie Mizelle of Reston, VA, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lyn earned a B.S. degree from Houghton University and a MS degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Lyn was a longtime resident and teacher in Derby, CT. She resided in Forest, VA, where she served in the Faith Alliance Church. Lyn was an avid UCONN woman’s basketball fan and enjoyed playing games and spending time with her family, especially at Virginia Beach. She was employed for over 30 years by the Derby school system as a classroom teacher.
