Eve O. Smith, age 83, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest in her home on Monday, November 27, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Brian Smith for 60 years. Eve was born in Bridgeport on November 15, 1940, daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Romano) Odice, and she lived in Shelton for the past 55 years.
She received her Associate’s Degree in Legal Studies from Sacred Heart University and started as a legal secretary for ten years for Pullman, Comely, Bradley, and Reeves. She later became a paralegal with Fashjian & Falco for twenty two years.
Eve was very active within the community. She ran the St. Lawrence Sports Club with her husband for several years and the St. Lawrence Christmas Tree Sale for two years. She joined the St. Vincent’s Hospital Auxiliary Board and was active in planning the annual gala. Eve was also very active in planning the Shelton Relay for Life and continued to volunteer one day every week with St. Vincent’s Gift Shop where she was often praised for her creativity.
She is the beloved mother of Rebecca Lamson and Jennifer Mount and husband Joseph, and the proud grandmother of Marissa Lamson, Camden Mount, and Joel Mount. She also is survived by her brother Jay Odice, her nieces and nephews Katie, Brad, Brian, Perry, Owen, and Adrian, and many, many cousins from her large Italian family. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Penny Odice.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday from 9 to 10:30 AM. Her procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 11 AM.
