Evelyn Bialek Kuna

Evelyn Bialek Kuna, age 88, of Shelton, CT, formerly of Derby, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 24, 1936, in Derby, CT, she was the daughter of John and Karolina Bialek. Raised in Derby, Evelyn cherished her roots and the close-knit community where she grew up.

After graduating from high school, Evelyn began her career as a secretary at Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET). She worked there until she started her family, dedicating herself to raising her children with love and care.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leon V. Kuna, and her sister, Edwina Wysowski. She is survived by her son, Leo E. Kuna and his wife Renata of Shelton, CT; her daughter Karen Ganim and her husband Raymond of Easton, CT; five grandchildren, Eric (Nichole) Kuna, Paul (Patricia) Kuna, Kevin Kuna, Kenneth (Allie) Dancho, James (Danielle) Dancho, and Jillian Ganim; and five great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family brought her immense joy.

After her marriage to Leon, Evelyn and Leon moved to Shelton and spent their lives together raising their family with love and devotion. She found happiness tending to her home and garden, visiting the casino for a little fun, and spending time with her family. She took great pride in her Polish heritage and passed down many traditions to her loved ones. In 2017, Evelyn moved to Mozaic Senior Life in Bridgeport.

Evelyn’s life was marked by her devotion to her faith and her family and the values she held dear. Her warm presence, kind heart, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mozaic Senior Life for the excellent, loving, and compassionate care Evelyn received while residing there. Their dedication and support made a significant difference in Evelyn’s life during her time at the facility.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday from 9:30 am to 10:30 AM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Derby, at 11 am. Her burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
